What Does Accredited Carbon Literacy Training Cover?

Each Lead With Sustainability accredited Carbon Literacy Project training course is tailored to the specific sector and/or workplace of the client. Through a mix of videos, activities, presentations and breakout rooms, we discuss the urgency and importance of acting on climate change in an engaging and enlightening way.

Lead With Sustainability’s certified Carbon Literacy training starts by discussing the documentary watched as pre-course homework. We then explore the science of climate change, and discuss recent and future impacts on the UK, and around the world. The first module ends by exploring the inequity of climate change – who is affected most and how fair this is.

People have known about the issues with burning fossil fuels for more than 100 years. Replacement solutions are available which are cheaper, healthier and far less damaging to the planet. In this second part, we look at terminology, UK and worldwide policies, and the impacts on our workplaces, now and in the future. We also explore the co benefits of climate action and understand ways we can reduce our emissions in food, transport and at home.

The third section looks specifically at emissions in our sector (business, built environment, transport, civil service). We focus on areas with the biggest potential for change. The course covers market-leading innovations, circularity, Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, and driving change through supply chains. This section is extremely practical – so trainees think about their particular role: saving costs, staying compliant or building market-leading innovations which keep your business ahead.

The final part brings everything together, exploring ways of increasing discussions, and developing significant work-related actions to truly drive change. During the course, each attendee creates initial ideas for influencing their workplace emissions (or personal lives if they’re currently unemployed), committing to at least two significant actions which they can deliver for themselves.
