Carbon Reduction Activities
Employees from across BMW Group, BMW Financial Services and Alphabet have come together multiple times for training sessions with Lead With Sustainability to embed carbon awareness across the organisation.
Accredited Carbon Literacy training sessions have been run for senior leaders and mixed groups of staff:
- Leadership Buy-in: CEOs from BMW, BMW Financial Services and Alphabet UK completed the course and publicly championed it at company-wide meetings.
- Workplace Culture Shift: Employees across the company have gained better understanding about why they should seek carbon reductions and what they can do. Each has committed to specific actions relating to their area of work.
- Functional Training and Workshops: Specific training sessions held for Sustainability Champions, and the sales and the marketing teams. These were followed by brainstorming workshops identifying areas where these specialists could cut emissions and their costs.
- Scalable Impact: The success inspired European leadership to explore rolling out the framework across wider regional operations.

Why Invest in Employee Climate Training?
- Cut Operational Expenses: Small behaviour changes in materials, transport and energy all help cut carbon and workplace costs.
- Boost Talent Retention: Three quarters of adults report concern about climate change. Providing meaningful sustainability development builds pride in the workplace, helps retain staff, improve motivation and aids recruitment.
- Future-Proof Compliance: Empowering your procurement, site, and office teams to make low-carbon decisions that align with your sustainability strategy, scope emissions standards and supply chain demands.
